Engineers Without Borders USA Lehigh Valley Professional Chapter builds a better world through engineering projects that empower communities to meet their basic human needs. Our projects have been based in Mattru Jong, Sierra Leone and in the northwestern region of the Dominican Republic where we have a water project on-going.
Since 2010, the EWB-USA Lehigh Valley Professional Chapter has built a relationship with the community of Mattru Jong. Our first project at the CSS Secondary School was followed by the renovation of the Mattru Jong Hospital. Subsequent projects at the local SLOIC vocational school and the Nyandengoh special needs school have added critical infrastructure to the community. Click the links below for each project:

Many rural DR communities need clean water, sanitation, electricity and road improvements to stop emigration of younger people and improve the lives of current residents. These facilities would give the towns the resources they need to thrive in the Dominican economy. Working with in-country partners INAPA (the DR government agency responsible for potable water in the country) and INDENOR (a local NGO), we implemented water systems in the communities of Machete and Cabeza de Toro and are working on a third - Sabana Grande.
